In Memoriam

John C. Davis

It was a pleasure and an honor to to be a friend to John.

He was a man who was quite accomplished for his brief 30 years on this Earth. He was a student of philosophy, and took great pleasure in studying Nietzsche in the original German. He was a talented keyboard player, and drew great satisfaction from playing classical music. But his primary focus was on mastering the intricacies and disciplines of the martial arts. He had a vision for the blending of appropriate elements of many schools in an effort to create a uniquely Satanic Way, combining armed and unarmed combat practices, that would elegantly empower those who flow with the Dark Force in Nature. He called this new school “Satanic Combat Sciences.” He attracted a number of fine individuals as teachers and students, and they may choose to carry forward this torch in his honor. His prime inspiration and confederate in this project was his mate, Jacqueline.

It was my great pleasure to officiate at the wedding of John and his passionately beloved Jacqueline on Walpurgisnacht of this year. They made a potent couple, intellectually and aesthetically, and I grieve with her in this time of loss. She has earned many friends who will lend her their strength.

John took to his heart my admonition to “cultivate a neo-Darwinian arena wherein opinions may clash in the bright glare of midday, light glinting off sabre-sharp tongues which slash against the armor of cultivated wit and erudition in a true conflict of rip-roaring repartee.” His chosen arenas for this were on the Internet, on alt.satanism as well as in the #satannet chat room. When he bravely strode forth upon the cyber-sand, he donned the helm of his “nick,” Xloptuny. Those who found him an ally were proud to call him comrade. Those who disagreed with him knew him to be a worthy adversary, even should the conflict of concepts end with no resolution. I’ve read some posts by these fellow usenet gladiators, and both friend and foe alike have honored John’s memory as a worthy combatant. Of course there are also those cowards who take this time to rejoice, as one of their superiors has departed the theatre of operations, leaving them one less chance to be yet again flayed alive, as John had so readily done before—always with a smile on his face. In their wizened hearts they know that they will miss their long-sought eustress, which Herr Xloptuny deftly turned to distress.

His memory now lives on in the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to have encountered him. He has made a unique mark in Satanism. I raise my arm in a salute to the memory of a warrior and friend, who knew the irresistible power of the combination of mind and force, wedded with the might of the Eternal Darkness. I will not forget him.

Heil, John!

Heil, Xloptuny!

Heil, Satan!
