The original website for the Church of Satan is remembered with intimate affection. It was created by Magus Peter H. Gilmore with design cues and content from Magus Anton Szandor LaVey. The original concept was one of a haunted mansion, with hidden passages that revealed information, images and diabolical thoughts to diligent explorers. We still reflect fondly on the memory of the first time we discovered its bombastic graphics and thought-provoking content. It stood for years as a beacon for every Internet user, a place to discover the human truths contained therein. As with any living entity, a metamorphosis was inevitable.
An inspired collaboration between Magus Gilmore, Reverend Antony and Reverend Campbell produced the completely new—yet deeply familiar—design for the Church of Satan’s online presence. They used symbolism from the printed source materials The Satanic Bible and The Satanic Scriptures, combining them with icons long associated with Satanism, inspired by the timeless style of Art Deco. What you now experience from the website is potent information presented in a contemporary manner, offering direct and intimate connection.
The sense of style and strength of content will sweep up the visitor, encouraging you to discover, and to delve deeper into its pages, inspiring your study, not worship. Evolving technology continually presents us with more effective tools, and here we have employed them to maximize our power to communicate Satanism to all who wish to explore this individualist philosophy.
We would like to take a moment and give a very special "thank you" to our founder Magus Anton Szandor LaVey and our current High Priest, Magus Peter H. Gilmore, for the concepts involved in creating the original site; to Magus Gilmore's persistant vision with the website in continually improving and populating it with invaluable content; to Magister Frost for his technical expertise and support, and to both Reverend Antony and Reverend Campbell for extraordinary efforts contributing to the design and production of this new face for our old friend.
