The Black Flame

The Black Flame, the International Forum of the Church of Satan, began in 1989 c.e., during a period when The Cloven Hoof went on hiatus. It was first a quarterly newsletter, but evolved into a bi-annual magazine format (each issue being a “double issue,” containing what had been two quarters). It quickly became the world’s most widely-distributed Satanic periodical, and had been globally available on newsstands and by subscription. It was renowned for its review section, “Odditorium,” which featurds the most comprehensive listing of Satanic items to be found anywhere.

Towards the end of its run, we produced issues sporadically. Issue #16, our “Music & Art Interview Issue, was the last issue in magazine format. With the power of the Internet as a means for swifter communication with a vast audience, we have decided to make a major change.

For Year 50 Anno Satanas we are relaunching The Black Flame as part of the news feed on this web site. The content will include articles regarding the application of Satanism and its principles. Our members are encouraged to submit pieces that offer what they've learned in their pursuit of their myriad indulgences. Practical wisdom, words to the wise, recipes, things worth pursuing, places of interest and even tips on how to move the world according to one's will. The Odditorium heading may include thoughtful reviews of music, literature, theatre, films and anything else that has brought pleasure. Satanists will share what they've discovered in their ongoing journey of personal bliss.
