INDEPENDENCE DAY Today in the USA we celebrate the “birthday” of what our founders intended to be a secular republic. Americans popularly use this day as a means to enjoy a holiday summer weekend with convivial gatherings, barbecues, and evening fireworks displays while commercial enterprises lure folks towards capitalist excess with varied sales for their wares and services. While we partake of this as we please, Satanists also make time to reflect on the significance of the manifestation of this country whose expressed values favor self-determination for its citizens. Satanism champions freedom, individualism and personal satisfaction so naturally we endorse […]

CFI: Secular Suggestions for Honoring this Day

The organization that promotes reason and science to those who govern the US has some splendid thoughts for how one can assist to maintain the principles delineated in the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom and the US Constitution.

DEFERRED GNOSIS PODCAST

The primary purpose of the Deferred Gnosis podcast is to bring together contrasting perspectives sourced directly from the fringe to deconstruct the preconceptions of our culture through the use of critical thought and passionate discourse. By relentlessly investigating the whys and wherefores most are unwilling to explore, we will grasp those fleeting eternal truths necessary to liberate us from the shackles of sedentary Belief. Although we indeed live in a mad world, we will unravel the pervasive madness by sharpening reason against the whetstone of radical thought. Deferred Gnosis is a monthly podcast, the primary format of which is topic-driven […]

The Battle Continues: Ron Reagan Censored by CBS

The Freedom From Religion Foundation’s ad featuring Reagan speaking about the intrusion of religion into the US’s secular government was not accepted for broadcast by the network, though Comedy Central had already run in on two separate programs. It is clear that theists still hold plenty of power since such a major network fears offending them. The secularist point of view is unwelcome when the majority of society are a gaggle of mush-minded believers who do not tolerate skeptical opposition. As we’ve noted time and again, the struggle is on and support of the FFRF—a large group which has had […]

US Air Force Drops “so help me God” Requirement in Oaths

A minor victory for American secularism was scored in the courts, but one that could set a precedent for other institutions to follow. The Locke and Milton-inspired Enlightenment values that influenced the American revolution will hopefully continue fighting for, as Thomas Jefferson coined it, “a wall of separation between church and state”. We give a horned salute to the airman whose Luciferian sense of rebellion took him to this victory. Let our schools, our legislative halls, and all publicly-owned grounds heed the Air Force’s example. Onward! —Warlock Darren Deicide

9/11 Thoughts, 2014 C.E.

On this anniversary of the terrorist attacks that killed many who were simply going about the business of enjoying their lives, it is apt to recall the danger that extremist religions pose to those who are not their adherents. In the past year we have seen journalists beheaded, individuals executed for practicing “sorcery,” children captured for sexual slavery, and people of all ages and genders slaughtered for believing otherwise than their captors. Yet even those who would not be deemed “religious extremists” still follow the age-old practice of intolerance towards non-believers and others who do not share their particular scripture-based […]

BREVARD BANS ATHEISTS FROM INVOCATION

Why is there an “invocation” in the first place? Why are our government officials “praying” to anything during our time, paid for by our tax dollars? That’s some unconstitutional horseshit, right there. Pray on your own time, if you really think prayer guides you. If you’re on my time, your ass better be doing something more akin to law-making than sitting on your knees asking Jeebus if he thinks the intersection of Main & Park needs a flashing red light or just a stop sign. —Magister David Harris
