A brief history of Devil-themed songs of the 1910s, followed by my rendition of Irving Berlin’s “The Devil Has Bought Up All The Coal” (1918), in honor of Veterans Day 2018. I’ve never heard anybody else perform or record this song; I learned it myself from the sheet music after finding it on the Library of Congress website.
